summer reading: ramona quimby

July 15, 2013

We are on a Ramona kick here in this house! I remember reading these books on my own when I was maybe in 2nd or 3rd grade, but I grabbed one at the library to read aloud to Juliet just to see how she liked them. (Also to see if they were as good as I remembered them to be!)

They were most definitely as good as I remembered them--thoroughly enjoyable to read as an adult as well as a child. Juliet was hooked after the first one and has begged me to get more each time we go to the library.

She laughs out loud at Ramona's antics and has taken to acting out certain scenes with Lucia.

I'm thinking about getting The Complete Ramona Collection for her as a Christmas or birthday gift. I have a feeling she'll want to reread them on her own this upcoming year or next and Lucia will enjoy them also one day.

What about you? What have you been reading with your kids this summer? Anything we should check out?

Oh! Also, has anyone seen the Ramona and Beezus movie? I haven't yet, but we are interested--does anyone recommend it?
