bright and bold board books for toddlers

March 18, 2013

I got a nice big box of review books this weekend and wanted to share them with you today.

Tiger Tales sent their latest board book series and both girls were super excited about them. They are geared more at the baby/toddler age group, but Juliet thoroughly enjoyed looking at all the bright pictures and reading them to her little sister.

There was even  a puzzle that went along with the ABC Book --which was pretty entertaining. It's nice and sturdy and just the right size for young children to start learning to put together. Lucia cannot do this on her own, but she enjoys sitting with me or Juliet and trying to put it together.

Pets  and Farm are two touch and feel books that are beautifully produced and fun to interact with. Every time I feel like maybe we are done with the whole touch and feel books, something else comes along and my kids are into them again. Who can resist rubbing a furry bunny?

First Numbers and First Colors are perfect books for the car. they have nice big flaps that Lucia loves to open and again, the images are so colorful and bright that she can sit and enjoy them without any assistance from me. there are pictures of animals, cupcakes, balloons, and other bright objects. My two girls are both pretty taken with the flamingo in the pink section.

Things to Learn and Things to See are both full of images to discuss and enjoy together. We were most taken by the beach page because we are heading that way in a few weeks for spring break. I don't think Lucia remembers our trip last year, but she is looking forward to the sand, the seagulls, and the waves. I like that this book helps her envision what we have all been excitedly talking about together this past month.

Have you run across any great board books lately? I 'd love to hear what you love!

These books were provided to me by the publisher for review purposes. The opinions expressed are entirely my own.
