shark books for kids

March 29, 2012

I mentioned a few days ago that I needed some shark book recommendations for my nephew's upcoming shark party--I got such great suggestions, I thought I'd share them in a post.

The Three Little Fish and the Big Bad Shark
Cbijeau recommended this twist on the three little pigs tale! I just put it on hold at our library.

Robyn reminded me of a book we read a few years ago called I'm The Biggest Thing in the Ocean by Kevin Sherry. It's not about sharks, but it fits our ocean theme. She's a fish expert and has a bunch of great fish books listed here. (I think she is also a cat expert, but that is another post...)

Jenn suggested Shark vs. Train--which I also put on hold this week!

Whitney suggested Ocean Babies as a good ocean-themed one--I kind of want this one for myself--the illustrations look magnificent. (It's also on hold at our library! I can't quite believe they have it!)

And Melissa suggested Smiley Shark which looks very toddler friendly and fun.

I ran across this one--Shark in the Park --and since I am such a fan of the Usborne books for babies, I think it will be perfect.

I also remembered this book that we have I'm a Shark by Bob Shea. It's a little beyond a 1 year old, but definitely a fun one to read in a few years.

Thanks for helping me out and helping make my trip to the library so much easier this week! I love hearing your suggestions for great books.

If you think of any more, please leave me a comment below!
