Christmas book list for preschoolers

christmas books

Here they are. My favorite Christmas books from our stash.
We just pulled out the Christmas book box two days ago. Every year I have great hopes of wrapping them all up and doing a Christmas book advent countdown (a la Sarah Jane), and then I see all the books and want to read them immediately.

All of them.

So...yeah.

We are not doing the Christmas book advent this year.

I'm pretty sure I have posted about these books before, but I'l give you the titles and authors again in case  you want to look for them at the library:

12 Days of Christmas by Brian Wildsmith: (we did a 12 days of Christmas ornament craft series one year based completely on this book.)

Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas by Russell Hoban (from my childhood--it's like a "Gift of the Magi" version for kids.)

The Twelve Days of Christmas by Sheilah Beck (The illustrations in this are just gorgeous.)

Mr. Willowby's Christmas Tree by Robert Barry (Found this one at goodwill last year and it quickly became a favorite.)

Merry Christmas Baby by Joan Walsh Anglund (which is sadly unavailable at this time, but there is always goodwill...)

Pop Up The Night Before Christmas This is an old vintage pop up book and it is Juliet's favorite. I told her she could pick two books to read before nap time the day we got the books out and she picked this one as her first choice. I have to admit--it is awesome.

Curious about her second choice? How the Grinch Stole Christmas

After nap time, we immediately watched the cartoon version

Had to.

I filled the booksling with Christmas books. It's overflowing.

Here are some links to previous post about most of our books:

Looking through all those post just reminded of one I haven't seen yet this year--The Nutcracker by Rita Balducci. Juliet loves it so much we had do dig it out of the garage sometime in July....now it is mixed up with the other books. I'll have to find it today.

I'd love to hear what your favorite Christmas books are--please leave a comment and let me know!
