advent ornaments for kids

Juliet has been having so much fun with our  Truth in the Tinsel advent countdown. (See our calendar here.)

I've been trying to take pictures of the completed ornament each day (I've shared a few already), but here are some from this past week.

The sun ornament. (From Luke 1:57-80)

Each day's craft goes along with an excerpt from the Christmas story (in the Bible). You can read from any version you choose, but we've been using  The Living Bible.

I'm guessing in most other translations, the word "sun" is used. But in the one we read it said something different.

I love the language choice in this passage, "...and heaven's dawn is about to break upon us, to give light to those who sit in darkness and death's shadow..."

Heaven's dawn.

So poetic and beautiful. We had fun talking about the concept of dawn as we made our sun ornament.

And lastly, the bejeweled cd ornament to represent Mary's joyful song. Another fun and shiny project.

If you are still wanting to jump in and join the fun, it's not too late! Amanda is offering a "12 Days till Christmas" 20% discount today with the code 12DAYS. You can get your copy of the ebook here.

She's also offering a revised 12 day schedule to follow from now until Christmas. You can find the link to that new schedule when you download the ebook.

Have any of you been working on advent crafts? How has it been going? Leave a comment and/or links and tell me what you've been up to!
