someone's been sleeping in my house--dollhouse update

October 20, 2011

Work on the dollhouse project has been slow and steady this week, but we've made some good progress. Juliet is super excited about it and asks if "we can work on the dollhouse now" about every 5 minutes.

She even asks to work on it instead of watching TV.

Anyways, I thought I'd share our progress.

So far--still haven't spent a dime. I dug up some furniture that is going to work for us (because it is free.) I bought it at a yard sale last year because I couldn't resist. I think the set was around $2. Juliet has played with it without a house--just on the floor, but now, we are giving it a proper cardboard residence.

It's kind of mod and fun.

I like that it is wood--not too crazy about the primary colors, though.

Mostly, I'm just glad that I don't have to build any kitchen appliances out of band-aid boxes or something. This saves a lot of time.

I'm also toying with the idea of are some options. Nothing's been decided yet, though.

And lastly, this is the reason I was so hesitant to begin this project to begin with: the overtaking of my kitchen table. One side is perpetually trashed.

The cat doesn't seem to mind, though. In fact, we might have to fight her for the rights to the property.

Gathering trinkets and treasures for our house brought to mind one of my favorite Eric Carle books:
A House for Hermit Crab . He explains that the book is about change, but I've always felt like it was a tribute to the joy of decorating. :)

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
