giant spirograph wall art has taken over my mind

Last week, I was reading one of my favorite blogs Maker Mama when I came across a post she did on on an outdoor art festival in her city.

There was a giant elliptical drawing machine that she and her kids were able to examine and load up with chalk. The end result is this beautiful gigantic sized spirograph that Amy was lucky enough to get to take home with her! (You have to read the post to get the full story and more pictures of the machine and the process of creating the art.)

She took it home and hung it up over her daughter's bed. Isn't she the cutest thing standing there staring at the art? I love how Amy is incorporating art in her daughter's room. (She's full of great ideas like this--you've got to check out her blog.)

I have felt like Amy's daughter this entire week. I have kept her post open on my computer so I can keep gazing at the spirograph! It has cast a spell on me and I have been wracking my brain trying to think of how I can construct my own giant elliptical machine....

I have come to grips with the fact that I cannot make one (sadly), but I have been scouring the internet looking for regular sized spirograph tools--I had a set as a kid and loved it. And now I must have one again.

Did you have a spirograph set as a kid? Do you recommend any specific brands? I'm looking for the biggest one I can get....
