alice in wonderland tea party: review and giveaway

August 17, 2011

Yesterday, I surprised Juliet with an Alice in Wonderland tea party courtesy of the storybook tea kit company. It was her first day of preschool, so I thought we should do something special to celebrate.
The kit comes with everything you need to have a Mad Hatter-inspired party for two. There's even a menu which made it extra fancy.
book box
All the food and accessories come packaged in this beautiful "book" box. (It looks like a book, but you open it up and it's hollow inside. Juliet has claimed it as her new treasure box and has been carrying it around and even took it to bed with her last night.
The goodies were particularly tasty and fun. And the apple cinnamon tea was perfect. Juliet has never tasted tea before, and was a bit skeptical, but decided it was quite delicious.
drink me
The biggest hit of the entire kit was this tiny plastic "drink me" bottle complete with cork. There is nothing inside it--you can fill it if you like, but we chose to keep the potion imaginary. Since we've read Alice in Wonderland several times and seen the Disney movie, she is very familiar with this scene (where Alice drinks the potion and shrinks).

However, she decided to change it from shrinking potion to "makes your birthday a little bit closer" potion, (which sounds a little too much like "aging" potion to me...) and has been guzzling it down every few minutes since getting her hands on it.
vintage alice in wonderland
This is our copy of Alice in Wonderland--the illustrations are beautiful and it's short enough to read in a few nights. It did not come with the kit, but we got it out so we could look at the pictures.

The kit does come with an audio recording of the tea party--we haven't listened to it yet--and also a printed copy of the mad tea party chapter. We had so much fun. (By the way, the tea cups are not included either, those are mine.)
