giant wall maps for kids

wall map
After reading How I Learned Geography by Uri Shulevitz a few weeks ago, I have been on the search for a wall map. I, of course, wanted one of those beautiful vintage pull-down ones, but knew they would be too expensive.

This chalkboard map was my second choice, but again, not sure if I wanted to spend that much on something I could probably make on my own for less.

I was happy to come across this laminated wall map at Goodwill and when I saw that it was only $1.26, I snatched it right up!

We taped it to the wall and have had lots of fun drawing imaginary trip routes and practicing our weather person skills. I cut out some sunshines, clouds, lightning, rain, and tornadoes for Juliet to place on the map and then give a weather update.

It's been fun!

What have you been up to with your kids lately?
