The Twelve Dancing Princesses
The Twelve Dancing Princesses by Brigette Barrager

I know that I'm always gushing about some book or another, but this might be my favorite book right now.

I discovered it at the IRA convention a few weeks ago by chance. I happened to notice the title and thought, 'Hey, we don't have a copy of the Twelve Dancing Princesses" yet. We NEED one.

I had one version as a child, but can't remember which one. But I do remember reading it over and over again. The images are stuck in my head, but of course, I can't remember the illustrator.

However, at this point it doesn't really matter because I have fallen head-over-heels in love with this new version. (just released in may!)

You know the story already, so I won't go into a recap, but just feast your eyes on these illustrations!
The princesses are all named after flowers and the youngest (the one who marries the shoemaker) is named Poppy. Do you know any little girls named Poppy? I do, and I think this is the perfect book for her!
I could just stare at these pages for hours. All the details are perfectly magical. Juliet is equally taken with it. We've read it several times together.
Because I am so in love with these illustrations, I googled the illustrator's name and discovered her blog! You can read more about this book and her process of writing/illustrating it in this post.

I can't wait to see what she does next.
Princess Matching Game
I did find this lovely Princess Matching Game that I put on my Christmas gift idea list for the girls.

And these 12 Paper Doll Notecards might be a good present for me. :)
