nature books

A beautifully illustrated nature book always makes me smile, so I was happy to add these two books to our home library last week.
A Butterfly Is Patient

A Seed Is Sleepy

Also, there is one more in this series:
An Egg Is Quiet
An Egg Is Quiet

Sylvia Long's illustrations have a delicate and beautiful quality that I love. Juliet and I have enjoyed reading about butterflies and seeds.

The best part is the inside covers. In the butterfly book, the inside is covered in caterpillars. The back cover reveals what they look like as butterflies (they are all labeled, so you can see the transformation).

For the seed book, the front inside cover has seeds and the back has the plants. I imagine that the egg one would have eggs in the front and the animals in the back.

Which one would you enjoy the most?

I own the egg one and ~love~ it. I keep it out on my art desk, for inspiration!

I have the egg and the seed books in my school library collection and agree they are beautiful. I didn't know there was a butterfly book...I will add it to my rather large ordering list for the Fall.
