I'm back.

May 15, 2011

Sorry I've been missing this past week! I had the chance to attend the International Reading Association's convention in Orlando and got really behind on the blogging--my apologies!
Llama Llama Red Pajama
What does one do at a Reading Convention you ask? Well, for starters, you get your picture taken with the Llama of Llama Llama Red Pajama fame. Isn't that funny? I couldn't resist!

It was the only photo I ended up taking because I was so busy checking out all the beautiful books at various publisher's exhibit booths. There were also quite a few authors and illustrators available for book signings--
The Flower Alphabet Book (Jerry Pallotta's Alphabet Books)The Icky Bug Alphabet bookThe Butterfly Alphabet Book (Jerry Pallotta's Alphabet Books)
I got Jerry Pallotta to sign a few abc books for my girls. I didn't realize he had so many different ones to choose from. It was hard to limit myself to a few.
A Long Walk to Water: Based on a True Story
I was also able to hear Linda Sue Park speak about her latest book A Long Walk to Water--which I have not read yet, but am looking forward to reading very soon.

I have a bag full of new books that Juliet and I have been enjoying. We have found a few favorites and I look forward to sharing them with you this week!

Yay! What a fun opportunity. How do you get yourself invited to these things?

So so jealous! Love that conference. I went a few years ago when I presented in a poster session. My favorite sessions were the children's lit ones. Hope you are going to post about some of your favorite things you learned!

It was fun--I've been contributing some book reviews for a reading newsletter for teachers and to say thanks they had those of us on the team go to the conference. So much fun!
