dandelion library collection

May 9, 2011

Here's my latest vintage find: Dandelion Library Set of 17 Children's Tales
Have you heard of this collection before? My friend Angel tipped me off to them and I finally got around to buying one.

I ordered it online and was a bit apprehensive about the quality (it was on ebay), but these books look like they were never opened. The covers are faded and obviously aged, but inside, the pages are pristine.

The only bad thing is that they had that horrible musty book smell when they arrived. That's why they are airing out in my backyard.
I didn't know what to do, but thought fresh air and sunshine should do the trick. It worked fine. After a few hours out there, they don't smell anymore.

Aren't the covers beautiful?

So far we have read Peter Pan, Robin Hood, Pinocchio, and are currently reading Alice in Wonderland.

I think you'll be seeing more of these books in future posts. :)

I love your idea of keeping books outside. I also bought some books couple of weeks before and they have some smell. I will also keep the book outside. Check out my this week's blog - http://blog.memetales.com/2011/05/lets-play-tissue-paper-flower-vase/

I'm glad airing them out helped. The covers are very nostalgic!

I am amazed at how well these books keep, but it seems that they didn't get much use in the past, possibly. Good for us though! :-)

Awesome! I have left old books out in the garage and it does seem to help! I think my parents have that hippo Veronica book ! I love vintage books...schools always have great ones! The school I worked at last would always have old books that they would discard for free and I would always grab a bunch! Some books from the 50s....you would of been in heaven!
