beautiful abc books

May 18, 2011

If you've been reading this blog for awhile, you know I have a bit of a thing for ABC books. So, when I came across this series at the Chronicle Books exhibit, I had to snatch them up!

The pages are beautiful with a combination of illustrations and vintage photographs. I particularly like this style and Juliet was excited about them, too.

We don't necessarily read every word on every page--just look at the images and read what piques our interest. And after one, Juliet is generally done and is calling for a story instead of an informational book.

These seem to be aimed more at boys, but both Juliet and I enjoyed all of them. I would say that T Is for Tugboat is our favorite.

We didn't buy this one, but there is also a B Is for Baseball: Running the Bases from A to Z version available.

Because they are so beautiful, I think they make great gift books. What do you think? Do you or your kids enjoy books like these?

I recently discovered Jerry Pallotta and I ordered "The Construction Alphabet Book" for Little One. It provides quite a bit of information about each vehicle and has fantastic art work! Little One, who is not yet 3, LOVES it! He is a construction vehicle fan though!

I also love alphabet books, so am always on the look out for great titles. Thanks for these recommendations. :)
