easter egg sun catchers: kids craft

egg decals
After reading all our Easter Egg books, we wanted to do some egg decorating of our own. I had some clear contact paper and really loved the way the crocus sun catchers and shamrock decals turned out. So I decided to try a new technique....
I cut out egg shapes and let Juliet paint them. It was fun!

After they dried, we stuck them to the window. The only problem is that the paint did not adhere that well to the contact paper--the decals were pretty fragile in that the paint would peel off very easily. However, we did manage to get them on the window and we are not touching them and they are fine.

If you have younger kids, I would not recommend this. Paint flakes would be everywhere if they tried to touch them. But if your kids are old enough to understand that these decals are "hands off!" then it's fun and they look great with the sunlight streaming through them.

I love how the curtains next to the window look like they have eggs too.

Hmmmm...... They're not so good with the hands off. I wonder if maybe we could try markers.....

Ticia, sharpie markers work great. we'll probably use them again next time.

The suncatchers turned out very well, but love the picture with the kitty checking them out:-) Thanks for the tips on how you did it. Always good to hear what does and does not work!
