disney's Tangled: a new princess to love

March 29, 2011

Tangled (Disney Tangled) (Read-Aloud Storybook)
We've been reading a lot of Tangled around here lately (kind of went nuts over Disney's latest Princess movie...)

This newfound love of all things Rapunzel has led me on a quest to find beautiful fairy-tale inspired art and objects. Here's what I came up with:

heather ross fabric skirt
I used this fabric to make pillows for Lucia's room--love it.

I really like pouches. And I'm kind of partial to Heather Ross fabric. Here it is in green.

So pretty for a nursery or little girl's room.

Check out the hair. It's perfect.

Sadly, I don't think I have read the original since I was a kid--I used to have a big fairy tale book--not sure where that ended up. Does anyone have a favorite version of Rapunzel that they recommend? Any fairy tale collections that you enjoy? Please share!

Brimful Curiosities has a wonderful and informative post about various Rapunzel storybooks--including both classic versions and "tamer" more child-friendly ones. You should check out this list if you are thinking of checking some out at your library.

We've read several versions...you can see our comments here: http://www.brimfulcuriosities.com/2010/11/rapunzel-picture-books-childrens.html

As for illustrations we loved the pictures by Trina Schart Hyman the best of all.

Rapunzel's Revenge, a graphic novel version is really a great book, too. My kindergartner loved it, though it is a little long.

Wow--thanks! I just checked out your list--I'll be using it to find some books for me....I'm thinking Juliet isn't quite ready for the original for a few more years. :)

I love Heather Ross Fabrics too! I have some mermaids waiting for me to get creative!

I almost bought that skirt for Lydia's Tangled Party. I LOVE IT! I forgot it was in Lucia's room!

Have you seen this Tangled book?

The illustrations are gorgeous--it's illustrated by Claire Keane who is the granddaughter of Bill Keane of Family Circus. Claire's father was/is also an animator and worked on Beauty and the Beast and other Disney movies.

Anyway, I think the illustrations are frame-worthy.

ok. I just posted that comment above and it says it was written by Jessica. WEIRD.

Obviously, this is Amanda. :)

Leila, I am jealous you have a stash of mermaid fabric!!! I am so in love with that stuff--just bought some sun bonnets for the girls in the blue mermaid. I can't wait to see what you come up with.

amanda--I totally was confused as to who Jessica was--I was like, "Is this some friend of amanda's that I met and have completely forgotten?!!!" So glad it is you. Jessica. I mean, Amanda.

It's hardly a stash! Just either a yard or half a yard (can't remember) of the blue mermaid and some of the cool purple Octopus one that coordinates.

Love that skirt! I'm feeling inspired to make one, though wouldn't it be cute as trim on a curtain?

Well, any amount is a stash--I looked for some and it was hard to find! A skirt would be great and I love the curtain trim idea. :)

I bought it back when it was ETF.
