valentine day boxes, cards, and printables

pink box
Here's a shot of the valentines box I got for Juliet this year. (Recently painted!)

I love it. Juliet however, is not so enamored. I showed it to her and explained that is was her new Valentines box and she said, "No thank you, mom. I just want my one from last year."

Fortunately, I had saved it and Valentines Day was saved. Who knew the old cereal box turned valentines cache would be such a hit?

I've seen some great DIY boxes around, so I thought I would share them with you if you are still looking to make one with/for your child this year.

I love this squirrel-themed one. It would go great with our acorn garland.
This mailbox is great for valentines day fun or even just regular old day fun.
Here's another DIY mailbox that I think is just perfect.

Maybe you already have a box and just need some more ideas of what to put inside?

These felt envelopes are just the thing for imaginative play.
These thumbprint hearts are perfect for little fingers. Much better than my attempt!
I'm crazy for thumbprints, so these love bugs are just perfect, I think.
I love the idea of doing a heart tree like this, but with thumbprint hearts! (So very The Day It Rained Hearts!)

And if you really want something easy, here are some fun printables you can use to stuff those boxes:

Does anyone else's kid love the show Dinosaur Train? These dinosaur valentines are sure to make Juliet smile.

This raining love valentine is another nod to The Day it Rained Hearts.
Here's an abc love note freebie.
And finally, I think this Be Mine Bee is so cute.

Do you have any fun Valentine links or ideas to share?

Mail delivery play is very popular around here, and getting more so with every stride B makes in writing and pre-reading skills. We have a very battered mail box from a project a the library. Maybe I'll replace it with one of your suggestions (If B will let me!)

Oh my gosh, thanks so much for featuring my love bug Valentines. I'm a long time reader, and it's so exciting to see one of my projects here! Thanks, Lila
