how to build a playhouse out of a cardboard box!

before
Do you remember the county jail from Juliet's police party? Ben had a fun idea last weekend and he and Juliet turned it into a play house.

Several years ago, I had Ben go to the paint store to buy me a quart of this coral paint. I was going to paint Juliet's little craft table and only needed a small amount. He came back with A GALLON. I painted the table and chairs and it looked like I hadn't even used one drop. So, this big gallon of paint has been sitting in our garage for the past two years and I couldn't bring myself to use it on any walls because it is pretty bright...

But I think it look great on the playhouse! And isn't the picket fence cute? Ben made that out of an old ikea bookshelf box.

This has got me thinking about box books. Here are some of our favorites:
Not a Box
Not a Box by Antoinette Portis
Sitting in My Box
Sitting in My Box by Dee Lillegard

Christina Katerina & the Big Box by Patricia Lee Gauch
This one is probably my favorite because it celebrates creativity and the imagination of kids. Do you have any favorite box books or crafts to share?

My grandkids made so many box houses, it was their favorite passtime. I love the fence too!

I have a lot of fond memories of playing in boxes, too. :) I love the fence because it can be stored away very easily! It might last longer than the house!
