painting a banner for the police party

rainy day flag project

Juliet and I took advantage of Lucia's nap time to work on a banner project for the party. I cut up a bunch of squares, rectangles, and triangles and we attempted to recreate the flags on this page of Cars and Trucks and Things that Go.
the flags
The shapes are very basic, so I would paint a stripe, then tell Juliet to help me paint the next one. She got a little side tracked and started painting her own flags and then starting making "Juliet-land" flags, but that was okay. As long as we were having fun!

The floor did get a little messy, however.

collateral damage
Collateral damage. Sometimes a sock has to take one for the team.

I love this post about painting with children by Ashley from Lil Blue Boo. Have you read it yet? She's given me some ideas for some bigger painting projects for Juliet as soon as the weather gets a bit warmer...

fun I can't wait to see this party. We decided to go with the book Pinkalicious for Sprite's 5th birthday. We love Pink and it's alot easier to make stuff for that them the flower fairies! :)

super cute! Painting with the boys is always nerve wracking for me... I'm going to read the article you linked to - maybe it will give me courage!

Pinkalicious is a great choice for a party--those pink cupcakes would be delicious and the kids would love it. Maybe I can convince Juliet to do that one for her 5th. :)

Painting is nerve wracking--we have a really messed up kitchen floor, so it's easy to just let go and let the paint go everywhere. If I had nice wood or tile, I'd probably not do it too often!

Yay! We can't wait! Abra loves the Things that Go Richard Scary book too so she'll be excited to see your banners! I'll point them out in the book before we come...
