One of my friends told me that her mom was looking through my blog for book gift ideas for her kids. I thought about it and although there are a ton of book suggestions on this blog, it might be kind of time consuming to dig through all my old posts. So, I thought I'd share a quick list of some books that I think any kid would love.
Maybe it'll make your Christmas shopping a little easier.
Alexander and the Wind-Up Mouse by Leo Lionni
We just discovered this one and LOVE it. Juliet was spellbound the first time we read it.
In a Blue Room by Jim Averbeck
My very favorite bedtime book of all time. This book is beautiful.
The Fox in the Dark by Alison Green
You'll love snuggling up with your kids as you read this thriller.
You Can Do It, Sam by Amy Hest
Perfect for the gift-giving season--we love reading about Sam and his mom as they make cakes and deliver them to all their neighbors.
Imogene's Antlers by David Small
This one always makes Juliet laugh--especially the surprise ending.
Shiver Me Letters: A Pirate ABC by June Sobel
This is a fun ABC book that will make all the little pirates giggle.
Good-Night, Owl! by Pat Hutchins
Guaranteed to make your kid laugh out loud. We love this bedtime tale.
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs retold and illustrated by Laura Ljungkvist
Satisfy her princess obsession with something other than those disney girls! This contemporary retelling of the classic fairy tale is sure to delight your little princess--we just got this one a few days ago and Juliet has insisted on sleeping with it in her bed every night. It's that good, I'm telling you!
For kids who might still be inclined to tear the pages of a regular book, but have moved past baby books--here are some great stories for any preschoolers available in a board book format:
Caps for Sale Board Book: by Esphyr Slobodkina
Funny monkeys+beautiful illustrations=an amazing book.
Good Night, Gorilla by Peggy Rathmann
Animals that sneak out of the zoo and into the zookeepers bed--what more does a good story need?
We read this one over and over again!
Little Blue Truck by Alice Schertle
This one's on my list of books to get Lucia.
And don't forget the babies! Here are some good ones:
Farm Tails Plush Book by Jelly Cat
I love all of the cloth books by Jelly Cat.
I love this soft, baby friendly version of Eric Carle's classic book.
The illustrations are adorable and the text makes me laugh. So much fun to read with baby.
We're big fans of Richard Scarry in this house.
