light bulb ornament

snowman ornament
You've seen the fingerprint snowmen family before, but have you seen it on a lightbulb?

I saw the snow family ornament idea on Handprint and Footprint art last year. (By the way, if you ever need some handprint/footprint inspiration--go there! I am always finding great ideas to copy.)

It's one of those projects that I wanted to do, but never got around to until about 2 days after Christmas...I didn't have any blank ornaments to use, so I just dug through our hall closet until I came across this bulb! I thought it was the perfect shape and would work just as well as an actual ornament.
We printed our snowmen--there's a Ben, Vanessa, and Juliet each made from our respective fingers--and then it sat on our kitchen counter next to the microwave ALL YEAR LONG. Until last week. When I picked it up, drew on the faces, wrote our names, and hot glued some ribbon to the top to make a hanger.

Now it's a proper ornament and it looks really cute hanging from our tree. I'm glad it survived a year on the kitchen counter because it's really making me smile this holiday season. We'll have to make a new one this year so Lucia can join the snow people!

Snowmen at Christmas
Snowmen at Christmas by Caralyn Buehner is a fun book we like to read this time of year.
Sadie and the Snowman
Sadie and the Snowman by Allen Morgan is undoubtably Juliet's favorite snowman book. We read this one all year long.
Frosty the Snowman (Little Golden Book)
Of course, you can't beat the classic Frosty the Snowman  Little Golden Book--I love this one.

What are you favorite snowmen books?

We did the ornament snowman last year, but I really like how it looks on the light-bulb!! Thanks for sharing- its now on my list of things to do this month :) And very impressive that it lasted a year in your kitchen.... I don't think it would have survived if it were in mine ;-)

I can't think of a single snowman book, other than Frosty. I like your suggestions!

We did these last year on regular bulbs. The lightbulb idea is pure genius!

Great idea. It's nice to know that other's have finished crafts sitting around *forever* before they get used. I love knowing I am not alone :)
