last year's thanksgiving crafts

It's amazing what a difference a year can make--last year, you might remember that I made this felt button-turkey for Juliet that was way beyond her abilities as a two-year old! Instead of having fun with it (as was my intention), she got really frustrated.

So I put it away and hoped it would be fun this year--and it is! She can easily button and unbutton the feathers and is very proud of her newly discovered skill. She tells me "If Lucia needs anything unbuttoned, I can do it for her!"

We also had fun with these nature-inspired turkeys...
and did had a blast with the traditional handprint turkey activity
while reading our very favorite turkey book, Setting the Turkeys Free

What's your favorite turkey book?

What a great craft! I may let my 4year old do some of the sewing herself.

Love, love your idea of the buttons - what a great craft!! I made a few button quilts for my son last year along the same lines -- http://infantbibliophile.blogspot.com/2009/12/button-felt-quilt-and-spacefish-books.html
