good night world books

November 3, 2010

Our World of Books was kind enough to send me some review copies of their Good Night World series a few weeks ago. I have mentioned these before in my Bedtime Books for Babies list, but I have only browsed a few copies in a local bookstore.
Good Night Georgia (Good Night Our World series)
Good Night Georgia is one I had seen in the store. However, it was extra fun reading it with Juliet this time. As a Georgia girl herself, she recognized several of the sites illustrated on the pages of the book.

Like this image of Stone Mountain...
Good Night Atlanta (Good Night Our World series)
Good Night Atlanta  had plenty more familiar images for us to look at and discuss.

Like this depiction of the Atlanta Botanical Gardens. We have taken Juliet to the gardens before and even have this hanging in our kitchen:

It's a series of photographs that Ben took at one of our visits to the gardens.  I love that pond with all the water lilies!

There are about 28 different state/city book options available (including Montreal!), but if you don't see your city/state represented, then here are a few options:
Good Night America [GOOD NIGHT AMER-BOARD]
Good Night America  covers familiar landmarks from sea to shining sea--we had fun talking about places we had never been like Niagara Falls, the Grand Canyon, and Hawaii.

It was also nice to look at illustrations of places we had visited before like Washington, D.C. shown here.
Good Night World (Good Night Our World series)
Good Night World  is obviously a great choice if you don't live in the U.S., but they also have these other titles that are a bit more specific to choose from as well.
Good Night Farm (Good Night Our World series)Good Night Ocean (Good Night Our World series)Good Night Lake (Good Night Our World series)

Good Night Florida (Good Night Our World series)
Would you like a chance to win one of these books? I have a copy of Good Night Florida that I am giving away--just leave a comment telling me which city/state/place you would like to see them add to their list of titles. Fun if you live in Florida, but also a great way to teach your child about someplace new if you don't live there.

It features the Kennedy Space Center, underwater caves, Sanibel Island, St. Augustine, orange groves, the Daytona race track, Orlando theme parks, and more!

Leave a separate comment for an extra chance to win if you: (one comment for each!)

We live in Florida so that book would be really cool! And not only that but we are starting a little geography study so that would be even more perfect. I really really hope I win the giveaway!

A set of these books would be lovely before visiting a new place, to get the children curious about the monuments and other such boring places which otherwise are omitted in favour of zoos and amusement parks. That said, there are so many of these waiting to be done! I'd love to have Delhi, Mumbai, Allahabad, Orissa, Colombo, HongKong, Jakarta, Tokyo, and oh, thousands more!

And oh, I am already a follower, both here and on facebook :)

And, dear me, I was supposed to leave an extra comment for each, wasn't I?
