book-inspired gift ideas for kids

November 19, 2010

I'm always on the look-out for fun book-inspired gift ideas and I love this idea: plushie toys based on your child's favorite book characters!

Merry Makers makes a whole line of different plushies from an assortment of favorite children's books. Here are some of my favorites:

Peter from The Snowy Day by Ezra Jack Keats

The little bird from Are You My Mother? by P.D. Eastman

Her royal highness from Princess Baby by Karen Katz

Skippy Jon Jones by Judy Schachner

And Splat the Cat. by Rob Scotton

I am in no affiliated with Merry Makers--just came across their site and thought their products were cute!
Which one would your child love to have?

Awesome find, Vanessa! Just last night, we were talking about how much my son loves Skippy Jon Jones. The stuffed version just might find its way under our Christmas tree. :)

We saw some of these at Borders the other day. My daughter loves Splat!

I love book inspired stuffed animals. We have the Hungry Hungry Caterpillar and the Mouse from If You Give a Mouse a Cookie (I don't know what company makes them).

Those are so cute! I've been tempted by stuffed Elmer, Pigeon, and Knufflebunnies too. I love that Peter doll.

I wish I had known about these before Juliet had already acquired well over one million stuffed animals.... :)
