Clare Turlay Newberry

October 20, 2010

After reading Welcome to Our Wonderland's Five books post, I had to run out and get some Clare Turlay Newberry books.

I found three and fell in love with the gorgeous illustrations. The stories are lovely too, but a bit too long for Juliet's attention span right now. We did manage to read through Marshmallow, but only while she ran around the room and I read outloud (perhaps to myself!)

I wanted to share these books with you because I truly love her illustrations and look forward to reading the stories with Juilet when she is older.

As soon as I saw the first book in your post, I instantly recognized the illustrations from one of my old children's books. I looked on the shelf and sure enough, it was by Newberry. Mine is The Kitten's ABC. I always loved her charcoal kitten drawings. I think it's what made me a cat lover and a collector of cat children's books. I will definitely look for the rest of her books now!
