book-inspired birthday party

September 3, 2010

I love book-inspired ideas and this rainbow birthday party from Making Arrangements makes me excited to plan Juliet's next party!

Inspired by the artwork of Joan Walsh Anglund, this party features a rainbow craft (and free download!) as well as several gift tags, stickers, and other fun printable freebies

If you aren't familiar with Joan Walsh Anglund, here are a few of her books to check out:

My Sister, My Friend

Love Is The Best Teacher

Merry Christmas, Baby (Golden Sturdy Shape Books)
(This was Juliet's favorite Christmas book the year she was one!)

What children's book would you love to plan a party around?

I'm planning my son's 1st birthday around "Ten Apples Up On Top" by Dr. Suess. It's his favorite book. I'd much rather do these themes than some goofy kids show. But, I made invites based on the book, favors, the cake, his party hat, etc. It is all about the apples and the 3 main characters. :) So excited!!

That sounds awesome! What a great idea to use his favorite book and it's such a great one--we love it,too!

Well, my favorite children's book is The Little Mouse, The Red Ripe Strawberry, and The Big Hungry Bear. I'm not sure how that would translate to a birthday party...maybe everyone protecting a strawberry shaped cake? would be really fun to do an Eric Carle party though...all of his books are fantastic. Maybe even incorporating the Eric Carle Museum, which is here in MA?

I was just browsing and reading about a Very Hungry Caterpillar party, and I think that would be so fun. I love planning birthday parties. This year, I'll be due to go into labor a week before my son's birthday, so I probably shouldn't do anything fancy, but I am disappointed, because I see great ideas all the time and think about how fun they would be to implement. There will be plenty of other years, though. :) said...

Vanessa, Thanks for featuring my Joan Walsh Anglund birthday party on your lovely blog! Certainly one of the favorite birthday themes I have done. We also did a Little House on the Prairie birthday a few years ago based on the book series. You might want to check that one out, as well. Have a great weekend!
