decorating with children's books: name books

August 10, 2010

Ideally, I would find a beautiful vintage book cover with Juliet and Lucia's names on them and have it displayed in their rooms as art. But so far, I have not found such a book. Even so, I think it is a fantastic idea and wanted to share some of my collection to inspire you.

How cute is this Dinosaur Ben book? I had to get it for my Ben. It's not on display in our room, but it is one that he and Juliet like to read together. She thinks it's hilarious that there is a dinosaur with the same name as her daddy.

I'm always talking about this one, it seems, but I just love Syd Hoff and Oliver is one of our favorite books. We also have a little friend named Oliver, so maybe that's part of the appeal.

Maude and Claude Go Abroad by Susan Meddaugh is such a cute book. I love the combination of whales and foxes!

And finally, my beloved Veronica by Roger Duvoisin. I should probably attempt to remove that sticker from the cover, but I'm afraid of damaging the cover!

If you like this idea, check out my list of children's books with little girl's names in them. They are not all vintage books, but some of the newer books are quite beautiful and would work wonderfully as a piece of art.

Do you have any beautiful vintage books with children's names on the covers?

Kelta would be hard to find, but I'll keep my eyes open! I unfortunately, don't know of any with Audrey in the title either, but I'll be looking for you.

Hi Vanessa

This is really a lovely idea!! If you spot an Adam and a Samuel title, please let me know! You have really made me think of Books as it!!

You have such great posts~! My question is, where do you find all your books? I search Goodwill every other week during their 50% off sales, but not sure where else to go besides garage sales...

I'll definitely keep my eyes open for Adam and Samuel--I think those should be easy to find!

Lorri, I guess my goodwill is just really good! I find all my books there or at library sales (the best place because they are only 25 cents apiece there!) You would no believe how many vintage books I snag up for just a quarter.

It's more expensive, but I've found good luck on a site called can find vintage books, but of course, not for a quarter. I only use that as a last resource if I am looking for something specific and I can't find it anywhere locally.

Sometimes thrift stores have a children's book section and used book stores, too. I hope you find some where you live!
