Eric Carle Favorites
July 21, 2010
Eric Carle is one of my very, very favorite children's book authors and illustrators. I'm sure you know his Very Hungry Caterpillar, but maybe you haven't seen a few of these other ones. He's written so many books that we have not read them all yet, but here is a good selection of the ones we have and LOVE.
If you didn't know it, Eric Carle also has a blog where he shares background stories of his artwork and his books! I love reading what he has to say about his work. You should check it out if you love his work.
He also has an official Eric Carle website where you can find coloring pages, games, and more.
I love these for babies! I like to give these as shower gifts.
Eric Carle's Opposites (The World of Eric Carle)
Eric Carle's ABC (The World of Eric Carle)
Brown Bear & Friends Board Book Gift Set
Juliet had this collection as one of her very first book-reading experiences. Ben makes great animal noises, so the Polar Bear, Polar Bear What Do You Hear one was a special favorite.
The following are great for toddlers and preschoolers--our library has a great selection, so we almost always pick out one Eric Carle book every time we visit!
The Grouchy Ladybug (It's fun doing the grouchy lady bug voice in this one!)
Walter the Baker
"Slowly, Slowly, Slowly," said the Sloth
Papa, Please Get the Moon For Me (This one is probably my very favorite one!)
Pancakes, Pancakes! (This book makes me tired, but Juliet LOVES it!)
Do You Want to Be My Friend?
Dream Snow (This book is the reason why Juliet wakes up almost every morning and declares that she "dreamed of snow!" )
The Very Clumsy Click Beetle (Eric Carle's Very Series) (The clicking noise is VERY intriguing to Juliet!)
Draw Me a Star (Paperstar Book) (Beautiful.)
The Tiny Seed (World of Eric Carle) (Love it so much.)
Have You Seen My Cat?
Little Cloud (Picture Puffins)
The Very Lonely Firefly
The Very Hungry Caterpillar (Juliet has told me that I'm lucky to be so big (referring to my pregnant belly) because I'm just like that hungry caterpillar! I guess that's one way to look at it!)
The Secret Birthday Message (It's hard to say which is Juliet's favorite, but I think it might be this one.)
So, what is your favorite Eric Carle book?
I'm linking up to Feed Me Books Friday @ Little Sprouts Books this week!
