color books for babies

May 29, 2010

You can teach your baby about colors without having to actually "teach" by just reading some books together and pointing out the different colors. I love color books because like number books, they don't rely on a story and are just great conversation starters between you and your baby--here are some of our favorites.

I love this series. It got a lot of use during Juliet's baby years.

This is similar to the one we have--couldn't find an image of ours, but it has a parrot on the front. I like the black and white pirate flag on the the "black" page.

What Makes A Rainbow
What Makes A Rainbow by Beth Ann Schwartz
I've been piling up books next to my computer desk as I type these baby lists and everytime I turn around, Juliet has taken this book because she wants to read it! At this very moment, she is sitting on the couch reading it to herself. So...let's just say, we really reccommend this one!

Colors (Anne Geddes Collection)

This has lots of funny pictures of babies sitting in cabbages and pumpkins and hydrangeas.

Here are some I don't own, but would like to read with Lucia:

I have looked through this one at the bookstore and think it is just beautiful.

I like bilingual books--this one appeals to me because of the Spanish element.

I love the cover of this! It makes me want to make a multi-colored elephant craft!

We have the shapes version of this book and really loved it.

I love anything from Priddy books--so, this one looks good to me.

This one looks to have pictures of babies which are always appealing to the babies reading the books.

The paint lids on the front call to me.

We have the nursery rhyme, christmas, and lullaby version of this book and we love them all. Wee Sing does a great job with their songs and illustrations.
