I saw this idea in Highlights High Five Magazine this month. They have a craft page and as soon as we turned to it, Juliet said, "Ohhhhhhh! Can we make this?"
So we got a paper towel tube, wrapped it in foil, and then decorated it with stickers. (This was all very preschooler-friendly!)
The only thing left to do was try it out. I was skeptical as to it working, but when I held it up to her heart, I could really hear it! It was great!
Juliet insisted that her friend Abra be subjected to an examination when she come over later that day (pictured).
Some of our favorite doctor-themed books that we own include:
Doctor Rabbit by Jan Wahl
This is one of my very favorite books! The story is fun and the illustrations are divine.

Who's Sick Today?
by Lynne Cherry
Beavers with fevers, a snake with an ache--this rhyming book is so fun to read aloud!
Doctor Dan the Bandage Man
by Helen Gaspard
This is basically a Band-Aid promotion, but it's vintage, so I like it. These felt-band aids from Pink and Green Mama are on my list of things to do! I think Juliet would love a set of them to play with and they would go perfectly with this book.
Do you have any favorite doctor/hospital books to recommend?

My husband's in medical school and we ZERO doctor books! Where have I been? I need to get on the ball. I love the stethoscope. My daughter uses anything around the house to be a stethoscope and I think this will be an awesome craft to do with her. Thanks for sharing!
So cute!
That is really cute. I bet you guys had a great time making it and playing with it.
Oh this is such a cute and fun list!
I think we have the vintage Nurse Nancy or something like that and it came with a real bandaid:)
Ps. I just added a fb fan badge too. A friend told me open up the code and where it says width 300 change the number to 160 and then it should fit neatly into your column. Hope it helps!
A great list of "doctor" books. I'll have to keep these in mind for a future unit on doctors!
This is awesome. I've never seen it before & will defintely put this on my to do list. Thanks for linking up on Tot Tuesdays last week. I hope you’ll join me this week for another party. Happy Easter!
