Juliet requested a birthday party for her "bunny doll house" (also known as calico critters). I had seen this fun cupcake idea on someone else's blog a while back (unfortunately, I can't remember where! If this is your idea, please let me know so I can link to you!) so I thought we would give it a try.
I set out the supplies for Juliet: the cupcake bases are made from bottle caps raided from the recycle box. We had some puffballs for the cupcakes and sequins, jewels, candy, and glitter for the decorations.
Juliet had fun squirting the glue...
And then carefully placing the puffballs in each cap.
Together we placed sequins, jewels, and candy on top of each cake.
And for the final touch, she added a hefty helping of glitter for the finishing touch.
She carefully carried the cupcakes upstairs to her bunny friends...
And the festivities began! (Looks like father cat has dropped dead from exhaustion in the upstairs bedroom, but the others are doing just fine. Hanging up the cupcake banner must have been a lot of work. We made that by cutting out cupcakes from some scrap birthday wrapping paper.)
Do you have a birthday book box? I've got a great list of birthday-themed books for you to check out!
One that I recently found a put in Juliet's box is called Daisy's Birthday Party
by Ruth Lerner Perle.

I love these cupcakes! But now I will have to make a difficult decision - I don't know if we have enough lids for both the bunnies AND the cupcakes...
oh, I'm going to have to save some soda caps to do this
Yet another great idea for bottle caps. I have quite a collection, but unfortunately my little girl is too old for this. I am not sure Thomas the Tank Engine needs any cupcakes because that is who my boys would make them for. :-)
So darling! My mom has calico critters! My daughter will love this idea for the next time she's at Gramee's house!
Those are adorable! Great idea!
My daughter loves her calico critters, too. She has kittens. What a fun make believe birthday party.
What a fantastic project! I love it :) How adorable the bunnies are at their party!
What a great cupcake craft! I'll have to remember it for the future.
This is the cutest post I have read in a while. Daughters are a blessing!
I love that your ideas are so unique. Another perfect craft of yours that we will be trying.
PUFFBALLLLS!
I just found another birthday book for you. I forgot I bought it for Asa this year. It's a little Step-Into-Reading type book from the Christian bookstore but it's got the sweetest illustrations. It's called Happy Birthday Barnabas Bear!
What a cute idea! KJ would love that for her dolls!!!
