dr. seuss muffin tin meal for kids

February 1, 2010

When I found out that this week Muffin Tin Monday theme was Dr. Seuss, I knew I would have to join in!

I have to admit, I was kind of stumped with what to put in for food, but here is what I came up with. I chose The Cat in the Hat and Green Eggs and Ham as our inspiration points.

I decorated the tin with these Dr. Seuss marble magnets that I made in December during my week of marble magnet obsession. (click the link for instructions on how to make your own!)

I went with the obvious "green eggs and ham" food choice. Except that in our tin, the "eggs" are really cheese because Juliet doesn't eat eggs. I just used green food coloring to dye both items. She liked the cheese, but didn't touch the ham. I don't blame her. It looks disgusting.

When the Cat is balancing a bunch of items while standing on a ball, he has some milk in the mix.

Here's my representation of the fish who is constantly telling the Cat to get out.

Juliet laughed when she saw the green food items, so I think that it was a hit. You are probably wondering what the cherries and the banana yogurt represent, and the answer is...I have no idea myself! I just needed some more food to go in the tins and this is what we had!

Do you have a Favorite Dr. Seuss Book? Any suggestions for what I could have put in the tins?

You did a great job. I don't think I would have gone for the green food either.

nice! you're the first i've seen to brave the world of dying the ham green. idk. i think my girls would have gobbled it up. mainly because it looks like a fruit roll up.

So very cute! I loved how there was just one fish in bottom left space. It just made it all the more interesting to look at. Fun!

One of my favorites is Horton Hatches the Egg! I'm not sure we would want to eat an egg when thinking about that book, though! :)

You did a great job with the Seuss theme. I love the magnets too. I’m adding a link to this on my children’s book blog where I collect Dr. Seuss ideas. Link up any of your other Seuss projects too.
