vintage christmas book featuring a wooden nativity

December 25, 2009

Merry Christmas!

I've mentioned this book before--Christmas is a Birthday by Aline Cunningham. It's one that my husband owned as a child and was passed down to Juliet by her grandmother.

The pages and cover are well-worn from much reading from both Ben and Juliet. I thought I would share some of it with you today.

Here are Mary and Joseph traveling to Bethlehem.

This always makes me laugh--Joseph getting a quick nap in before the delivery!

"Soon Mary had her baby. It was baby Jesus."

They wrap him up and lay him in the manger.

Here's the angel telling the shepherds the news.

"They brought presents to baby Jesus for they knew He was the Son of God."

This is my favorite image in the book. It reminds me so much of Juliet playing with her own nativity set.

The last page ends with "We wish you Happy Birthday, Jesus."

Here is Juliet's wooden nativity set that also used to be Ben's as a child. His mom just sent it to Juliet this year with a note that explained that she bought it for Ben when he was one and half years old! I love that she kept it and passed it down to us.

I hope you are having a wonderful Christmas day!

It's awesome that Juliet has all those heirlooms from her father. Merry Christmas!
