easy ways make your own nativity sets

December 20, 2009

I recently saw this really cute free printable Nativity scene (Making Friends) and this free color your own nativity (Scrapbook Scrapbook at Mama Jenn. She also linked to an amazing nativity from recyclables at Dollar Store Crafts.

It reminded me of a beautiful present we received from my very creative sister-in-law last year.

She hand-painted a nativity set on blocks of scrap wood.

Isn't is beautiful? Although, I myself have not tried it yet, it would be fun to make as a gift for someone else or have Juliet paint one a few years from now when she is a little older.

Juliet LOVES this set and has played with it all month long.

There are so many ways you could customize and personalize this gift.

We only have one animal on it's own, but you could make camels, sheep, cows, etc...

It's probably too late to do this project for this year, but maybe you can file it away for next!

Update: I just found another wooden block FELT nativity on Pioneer Woman via Impress Your Kids

I love the painted block nativity! My mom made a felt set for my brother and I years ago that is identical to the one you linked to on the PW site. It was from a 1980's craft book. I posted about it a few weeks ago.
