It's autumn and all the flowers had dropped their seeds except for one little dandelion seed that is afraid to let go. Eventually, the wind blows it loose and it travels far and wide until it lands in a nice spot and waits for spring--when it grows into a new plant.
The illustrations are particularly enchanting--Juliet loved watching the path the little seed takes through the world that is much bigger, more frightening, more lonely, and more beautiful than it could have ever imagined.
Another favorite seed book of ours is The Tiny Seed by Eric Carle.
If you have dandelions in your yard or in a nearby park, go pick some and have fun blowing the seeds into the air! Talk about where you think the seeds might land and grow into new plants in the spring.
