A Beautiful Girl by Amy SchwartzIf you have two-year olds, you know how obsessed they are with being BIG. Don't you dare call them a baby...they are BIG GIRLS now. (or at least that is what Juliet is telling me repeatedly these days.)
This book is for all those newly turned big girls out there...
A little girl named Jenna walks to the market. On her way she meets various animals who comment on her appearance. For example, the elephant says to her, "You're a funny elephant...and you have a very funny trunk."
Jenna always corrects the animal with a polite, "Excuse me, I am not an elephant. I am a big girl and this is my NOSE." (depending on the animal and body part commented on.)
At the end of the book, her mama has come to fetch her and her new friends say goodbye. They comment that they are so glad to have a friend with such a nice nose, mouth, eyes, and ears "on such a beautiful girl."
Her mom chimes in with, "Who soon will be in her bed and fast asleep."
And the final page shows Jenna asleep in bed with the words "Just like you." underneath her.
A great way to end the day and usher your own little, I mean BIG girl right to sleep.

Yay there is a character with my name :)
Do you know of any books with the name Amelie?
This is a cute one, too! :) I don't know of any with Amelie in them, but I feel certain there is one out there somewhere...
Just did a search and found this: Shoes for Amelie by Connie Colker Steiner--haven't read it, so I can't tell you if it is good or not, but the name is there!
