A friend of mine recently suggested that I set up an amazon astore on my blog. He said that I could put books that I review on my site in the store and then my readers could have easy access if they wanted to buy them.
I thought this sounded like a good idea, but not being very technically savvy, was unsure if I could actually get it to work. I messed around with it for a few hours today and have some sort of widget in my sidebar now...
So I guess I did it!
There are still some things to work out. For instance, I only put in about 12 books (to begin with), so I will need to spend some time and add some more. I only want to feature books that I absolutely love and would want to have in my own home library (as opposed to ones I would prefer to just check out from the library from time to time.) That way you can know that the books in the store are all good ones--meaning they are worth owning yourself or giving as gifts.
When you click on a book in my store, it will take you to the silly eagle bookstore. There you can click on "children's books" to see all the children's books I have chosen for the store. You will also see a sidebar that says, "Similar Items." Amazon puts these selections there--I have no control over them and do not necessarily endorse them. I think there is a way to remove that sidebar, but alas, I haven't figured it out yet.
In the future, I plan to create a section of books I recommend for parents, and maybe even a section that sells supplies for some of my activity ideas. I've always wanted to own my very own bookstore...and even though this is not quite the same thing, it's still pretty fun.
