A Whistle for Willie by Ezra Jack Keats
Ending the week with our final Keats book--this is a good one, too. Peter, our snowy day hero, wishes he could whistle. He tries and tries until finally, he can! He whistles for his dog Willie, who is quite pleased by it. The last page shows he and Willie going to the grocery store on an errand--whistling all the way. The illustrations are gorgeous, of course, and the whole whistling thing is intriguing to kids. We loved it.
