Aaaarrgghh! Spider! by Lydia Monks
Ummm....so stay away from this one if you don't like spiders, but if you don't really mind them unless they are real and in your bowl of trix or something, then this one is fun. A lonley little spider wants to be a family's pet so she does all sorts of things to get their attention--their response is to scream, "Aaaarrgghhh! Spider!" and promptly throw her outside, wash her down the drain, etc...
Eventually, she wins them over by dazzling them with her web weaving skills, they take her in as a pet and are quite pleased until the day she decides to invite all her spider friends over.......yes, that's right, they respond to this by screaming, "Aaaarrgghhh! Spiders!"
Juliet LOVED screaming, "Aaaarrgghhh! Spider! On every page of this book and also at random times throughout the day even if there was no spider to be seen for miles. The web page is quite lovely with sparkly webs all over the page. This was a good one.
Activity Idea: Make a spider out of a styrafoam ball, pipe cleaners, and googly eyes. Then glue a string to it (piece of web) and let your child take it on a walk around the house or around the block.
